Going to Hawaii!!!

After 17 years of marriage, my wife Kathleen and I are finally going on a honeymoon.

Like many of you who married young, we started out with nothing and really no support from family.  We were married at the JP on a Friday and I started a new job on a Monday. 

Well we've finally saved enough money and the kids are old enough that we can get away for a week.  So, 3 weeks ago I embarked on a mission to lose 5lbs before the trip.  Here is what I did.

I found a 3 mile trail near the office in WR (Thank you Anita!)  and determined to run every day at lunch.  The first week I ran 5 out of 7 days.  Total weight lost week 1 - 0lbs. (That's a big fat ZERO!)

Ok, I know the body has to adjust so, undetered I continued and put in another 5 days the following week.  Total weight lost week 2 - 0lbs.  (Same as above)

I am into week three now and hoping all 5 pounds come off by Saturday. 

Even though I am disappointed that the weight has not come off, I notice that I look better in the mirror.  Point being, remember to use the mirror and how your clothes fit as a guage to your fitness progress.  The scale doesn't lie but it does mislead you.  If you are exercising you are probably building muscle which weighs more than fat so you could conceiveably gain weight before you lose it.

 

One more thing I am doing this week is changing my diet a bit, which I haven't really done over the past few weeks.  I am eating 6 times a day to keep my matabolism up and making my last meal of the day a fruit smoothy instead of solid food.  I will try to put my final results in before I leave on Sunday.
